On 24 November we participated in a Spay n Neuter Clinic in Uman.
One of the 'Special' cases that came through was Roco.
Roco's 'owner' brought him in to be sterilized. The 'owner' saw nothing wrong with this -
The 'owner' had wrapped a length of chain around Roco's back leg and this was how he kept the dog secured, the chain had chewed in to Roco's leg and was quite firmly embedded.
Here they are removing the chain, after Roco's sterilization surgery
and here is the length of chain
These 2 photos are while still at the clinic, right after chain removal and cleaning of the wounds
Roco was removed from his 'owner', and went home with Cindy and Dan for TLC.
There were concerns about whether the foot could be lost.
These are day 2 photos
what a handsome boy!
Day 4, already looking so much better, still swollen and Roco can not yet put any weight on the foot.
and here is Day 12, swelling is going down and Roco is starting to put some occasional weight on the foot
Roco is still very thin, but he has a sweet disposition, and is getting healthier and heavier every day.
Roco needs a forever home - if you can find it in your heart and home to take him in please contact Cindy or Dan at
and in the interim, if you'd like and can, you can donate some money at Planned Pethood for Roco's medical treatments.
